Enter and View: North View

The patients in North View were being moved to a this facility known in November 2024 from their old site known as Park House. This move represents the largest transfer of patients in NHS history.
The team conducted an Enter and View investigation over the course of two days (09-10/01/2025). Using a set list of 21 questions, the team spoke to 41 patients in total across all 9 wards. Naturally, not every survey was fully completed due to the nature of the patients and how they presented at the time of our interviews.
Due to the vast array of different responses to our survey, this qualitative data has been analysed and converted into a quantitative format to show a clearer and more concise picture of the patient’s opinions. Although the findings are presented in this way, we included numerous quotes from patients to support our analysis.
Following the release of this report, a further comparative report will be produced comparing the feedback given during our Enter and View visits to Park House and North View.

Overall we found that patients felt as though the move from Park House to North View was conducted well by GMMH and the majority of patients had settled in well at this new site.
However, despite the majority of patients believing there was a high level of care at North View, a concerning number of patients felt as though the staff were more attentive and caring during the daytime compared to night-time.
Healthwatch Manchester recommends that if a move were to happen again, the same methodology should be applied as the transfer of patients at Park House to North View was conducted in a well communicated and planned way. Furthermore, we also reccomended that GMMH should investigate the discrepancies in the quality of care provided between daytime and night-time staff.
